I worked at a crisis nursery some time back. We received an infant who was the 7th child of a woman with schizophrenia. Two women came in to pick her up. Between the two families, they had adopted all previous 6 children as infants and one of the families was adopting this child as well.
Should teachers be allowed to use corporal punishment in the classroom?

I went to school in the 50's and 60's in rural Idaho. Corporal punishment was almost a daily event--for boys anyway. I found it to be great entertainment. Boys were allowed the best areas of the playground to play baseball and anything else they wanted.

If the police who were called by the college 5 times on this assassin had found pictures of various politicians with targets on their heads in his possession, would that have been enough to have him committed for an evaluation?

Perhaps we need to use a new set of metaphors in political speech instead of the current ones related to war and violence. You know, something concrete thinkers can't use to hurt themselves or others.

Its hard to get rid of first impressions and my first impression after hearing about this incident was that a "right wing" group was responsible. When I say right wing, I don't mean Tea Party, but something more related to Timothy McVey.
